On Saturday, May 20, 2006 over 6,000 people at HOME PLATE 2006 saw God goodness and His answer to prayers. God provided wonderful weather for this outreach event where players and coaches from the Detroit Tigers shared their faith in Jesus Christ.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ was proclaimed in a bold and simple manner. Television broadcaster Rod Allen served as the master of ceremonies. Testimonies from Mike Maroth, Nate Robertson, Todd=20 Jones, and Andy Van Slyke were interesting and powerful. Each person clearly explained when he trusted Christ and shared Scripture as part of his testimony. To close out the program, former Detroit Tiger pitcher Frank Tanana boldly and compassionately shared Gods plan of salvation. 169 people (40 adults, 46 teens, 83 children) indicated receiving Christ as Savior and another 1,151 people (643 adults, 290 teens, 218 children) renewed a commitment to live for and serve Jesus Christ.216 church and community groups from Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario participated in our 20^th year of HOME PLATE outreaches.
